Born on 24th 1981 in Kabul to a Punjabi Indian Army Officer father and an afghan Child Psychologist mother, Celina Jaitley is a younger sibling to her parents. Heading to glamorous world was not intentional and like many others of her ilk, she has different plans in life and even thought of joining army, either as a doctor or a pilot.
But destiny willed otherwise and she now shines in the skyline of glamorous world and has joined the band of India’s ever growing list of defense personnel’s daughters who made it big in beauty pageants and then entered the film world.
During her school days, she has to move frequently from one place to other because of her fathers posting and she changed 13 schools altogether until she appeared for board exams. She studied commerce in college and then she fetched a marketing job for a Cell phone company in Kolkatta. Though she was not so serious about winning the contest, she just participated for the heck of participation but surprisingly come out winning the contest. This opened up new avenues in glamorous world and soon she walked away with the coveted, Miss India crown (2001) bagging almost every title from Best Skin to Best Clothes to MTVs most wanted.
Then the same year, she went on to participate in the Miss Universe contest held in Puerto Rico and was adjudged fourth runner up from amongst 83 contestants. It was her success in national and international beauty pageants and sheer recognition she received, she was flooded with many Bollywood and afterwards Hollywood projects too.
Career in Movies
Celinia soon joined Bollywood industry, did some music videos including the Bombay Vikings' Zara Nazron Se Kehdo video. Her debut Bollywood film was Feroze Khan’s thriller Jansheen where she starred opposite to Fardeen Khan.
Having joined films she made her debut with Feroze Khan’s thriller Jansheen with Fardeen Khan. Despite her exposure role the film could not do a brisk business. She has also starred in Khel, which had in its cast Sunny Deol and Sunil Shetty besides the former test cricketer Ajay Jadeja. But despite all the euphoria it generated, Khel came a cropper at the box office.
She did Telugu film Suryam (2005) and dmany other Bollywood hits like Khel, Silsiilay, No Entry, Jawaani Diwani, Apna Sapna Money Money, Red: The Dark Side, Shakalaka Boom Boom, Heyy Babyy, Kabul Ka Gangster, and many others.
In 2007 Celina flew to New Zealand and shot her first international movie The Quest of Sheherzade, which was a romantic comedy.
There are many new upcoming project lined up to be released this year (2008), and she is the brand ambassador of Egyptian tourism & D'damas too. And it for sure, that this lovely artist has enough potential and energy to entertain people both national and in international level.
